• Greek scientist Archimedes invented this device.​

 

• To draw water from the inside of a large ship, he used a circular tube with a rod attached it.​

 

• When the rod is rotated, the water starts to rise.​

 

• The device he invented for pumping out water got the name 'Archimedes screw' and was also used in Egypt.​

 

• Archimedes designed a large stone throwing machine on the same lines as one can throw stones from a sling.​
