• Georg Simon Ohm, a German physicist, established a rule for
measuring the
resistance of an electric conductor.
• The current flowing through a conductor is proportional to the
potential difference
between the two ends of that conductor.
• According to this rule
I =V/R
V= Potential
difference between two ends of the conductor
I= Current
flowing in the conductor
R=
Resistivity of the conductor
• Potential changes are measured in volts and electric
current in amperes
• SI unit of resistance is Ohm
