Teeth


 

Digestion of food begins with the action of the teeth in the mouth.​

 

The main types of teeth are Incisors, Canine, pre molars, molars and each one has a specific function.​

 

Each tooth is covered with enamel, a hard substance.​

 

Enamel is composed of calcium salts.​

 

Saliva contains an enzyme called ptyalin or salivary amylase. Ptyalin converts starch into a sugar called maltose.​
